Projects 2012/13

Projects underway and completed in the currents financial year include:

Support to Leicestershire Together Environment Board in producing a Climate Ready Plan

Design and delivery of a programme of 12 Building Business Resilience workshops across East and West Midlands in association with the Environment Agency, local authorities and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, alongside a number of businesses who kindly hosted events and discussed their own work

Updating and printing the East Midlands version of Weathering the Storm, a business guide to saving and making money in a changing climate

Researching, designing and publishing a family of 9 Adaptating to Climate Change case studies with local authority partners and the Environment Agency

Completing and publishing a series of 5 Decentralised Energy case studies with the Carbon Trust and local authority partners

Completing and publishing 5 Thematic Papers on Adaptation with UK Climate Impacts Programme and local authority participants in the Planning for Adaptation project

Producing and disseminating a Case Studies and Guidance pack to every council in the East Midlands (incorporating all the outputs from the Climate Change Skills Programme)

Completing a programme of Inspiring Leaders events, to help engage and brief elected members in local authorities about current climate policy, performance and practice in the East Midlands

Developing and coordinating a programme of Peer Learning Days with and for local authorities, to help showcase/transfer good practice and provide a warts and all insight into difficulties and challenges

Developing an Adaptation Indicators project with 5 local authorities and the Environment Agency to help identify whether local areas are becoming more or less resilient to extreme weather and future climate

Supporting our local authority partners and their local climate change partnerships, e.g. facilitating discussions with Derby's Climate Alliance, providing workshops for Derbyshire's Community Climate Change Conference, part funding Leicester City Council's Environmental Legislation training day, assisting Leicestershire County Council and Northamptonshire County Council with Allowable Solutions and providing an employment service for locally hosted Climate Change Project Officers

Supporting the East Midlands NHS Sustainable Development Network in their Carbon Reduction project and Network events for NHS Trusts

Working with the Environment Agency, Climate UK and other Climate Change Partnerships in running a series of adaptation workshops for Health and Wellbeing Boards

Developing a new website for Climate UK
