Support to Elected Members and Portfolio Holders in local government
Pre-Council Briefings and Member Development Climate East Midlands has offered on-site briefing sessions to members in all 46 local authorities in the East Midlands, which can be provided before a council meeting, or as part of a Member Development event, with the date and times to suit you. The focus of the briefings can be tailored to meet your needs, but can include a national and regional perspective on what progress has been achieved in recent times, a summary of what help has been provided by the Skills Programme, a look at the future policy landscape and an exploration of the roles of members.

- West Lindsey District Council, Lincolnshire, 16th January 2012

Skills Programme Dissemination Events Elected members are also invited to attend end of programme dissemination events which are part of the Climate East Midlands Skills Programme. There are five events in February and March 2012 which may be of interest and are concerned with Planning for Adaptation, Decentralised Energy, Schools Collaboration on Resource Efficiency, Community Skills and Hydropower. Members are welcome to attend the morning part of each event to get an overview of the project and to hear some of the key messages and learning that has been generated over recent months by local authorities working collaboratively with expert consultants. More details here.
Support to Portfolio Holders Climate East Midlands is talking to Portfolio Holders for climate change to find out what their interests and requirements are and is also developing a programme of Inspiring Visits in spring-summer 2012. These will help to showcase some of the best climate-related projects that the East Midlands has to offer and will be hosted by the local Portfolio Holder concerned. Please contact Mike Peverill (details above) for more information.
