Collaborative Implementation Support

Collaborative Implementation Support has given authorities access to support from leading UK experts in key energy efficiency and renewable energy technology areas to help them implement practical projects to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs. The programme built on the Carbon Trust’s 9 years of experience in delivering carbon management support to public sector organisations to identify carbon and cost savings. To date, local authorities supported by the Carbon Trust have implemented projects with net lifetime energy savings of £102 million, with an average payback of just 4 years.

The support consisted of a series of one-day workshops key technology areas. Through the course of the day, participants were supported to produce a detailed implementation plan covering every step of the implementation process, and at the end of the workshop had a clear, detailed action plan to take away that could be used to implement a project within their current register and that would provide a template for any other projects using the same technology.  Feedback from these events has been that they are extremely worthwhile.  The Carbon Trust continue to run these events.  Workshops during 2012/13 include

  • Building-integrated renewables
  • Biomass Heating
  • Cooling and Air Handling
  • Combined Heat & Power and decentralised energy
  • Electrical energy efficiency within buildings
  • Focus on voltage management
  • Motors and Variable Speed Drives
  • Effective behavioural change workshop
