Nearer to Zero, 3rd July

HomeEventsNearer to Zero, 3rd July

Climate East Midlands is delighted to present a 'Nearer to Zero' conference in Leicester on 3rd July to debate the challenges and opportunities of meeting the Government's target for zero carbon homes. Part L of the Building Regulations will be changed in 2016, requiring all new homes built after than to be 'zero carbon'. This commitment has been confirmed recently in the Budget.

We're delighted to be working with the Zero Carbon Hub to put on this important event for the East Midlands, together with local authority partners Derbyshire County Council, Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council, Lincolnshire County Council and Northamptonshire County Council. Planners, housebuilders and others involved in this vital process are the main target audience. The conference will explain the Government's policy, describe the journey towards zero carbon (including the definition), talk about the approaches to improving building fabric and incorporating energy technologies, introduce the concept of Allowable Solutions and consider what this all means in terms of challenges and opportunities for the East Midlands.

It's not all presentations either - this will be a lively, energetic and highly participative affair where you'll get lots of chances to ask questions and debate the issues raised with other stakeholders. We can guarantee this thanks to the event facilitator Peter Woodward, who we're delighted to welcome back to the East Midlands. Peter has facilitated a number of big events for us over the years that participants have really enjoyed.
