Natural Environment Adaptation workshop, 6 November
Home Events Natural Environment Adaptation workshop, 6 November
Climate East Midlands is pleased to promote this event on 6th November in Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust's Ragged School offices in Nottingham, which is being organised by some of our partner organisations.
There is very clear evidence that climate change is happening and having an impact on wildlife in the UK. See for example these Biodiversity report cards from the Living with Environmental Change research programme. Recent weather events, for example last winter’s storms and flooding, have raised the profile of climate risks, as well as having significant impacts on a number of wildlife reserves around the country (including along the Lincolnshire coast as a result of the tidal surge on 5th December 2013).
How should you respond to climate change as a conservation manager? What practical actions can you start to take to improve the resilience of your specific habitat(s) and the wildlife that rely on them?
These questions will be answered at workshops organised by the Natural England and the Environment Agency’s Climate Ready Support Service, in collaboration with RSPB, The Wildlife Trusts and National Trust. The workshops will help you to consider how your sites, and their wildlife and habitats, will be increasingly vulnerable from climate change, and what practical adaptation measures actions can be taken for different habitats, using the recently published Climate Change Adaptation Manual for reference.
Attendance will be on a first come-first served basis, so book your place soon to avoid disappointment: registration is at http://doodle.com/4idctz7hsvdetm7g. We’ll consider running further sessions if demand outstrips supply, so please email [email protected] if you’re interested but unable to make these dates. The workshop will run from 10:30 for 11:00 and finish no later than 16:00.
