Climate East Midlands is supporting a national programme to help tourism businesses affected by recent severe winter weather. This is funded by the Department of Culture Media and Sport via an extra £2m to Visit England, following a ministerial meeting with representatives from the sector. Alongside an advertising campaign to let holidaymakers know that England's holiday destinations are open for business over Easter, there will also be a programme of free support workshops for businesses to help them get back on their feet and build their resilience.
In the East Midlands, there are two events in Lincolnshire on Thursday 27th March (Boston) and Monday 31st March (Lincoln). Boston was particularly affected by the worst tidal surge in 60 years on 5th December 2013.
These events are supported by Climate East Midlands and utilise a number of resources developed by Climate UK, including a website called Climate Prepared, developed specially for tourism businesses by Climate South West and Climate South East.
