This free, interactive, half-day workshop is for businesses in the construction sector. Featuring speakers, case studies, and the opportunity to discuss with industry peers, this workshop is designed to support construction companies to increase their resilience to severe weather and climate change.

When: Wednesday 28th January 2015 (9am - 12:30pm, followed by a networking lunch)

Speakers:

  • Rosi Fieldson, Head of Environment at Simons Group will talk about the key challenges facing the construction sector in relation to severe weather and climate change.
  • Kay Johnstone, Environment and Business Advisor at the Environment Agency's Climate Ready service will talk about how to use existing management systems to increase resilience (e.g. Environmental Management Systems and Business Continuity Management Systems)
  • Sandy Patience, architect and editor of GreenSpec will talk about how the form of buildings and the materials used, will need to change in a warming climate.

Background:

This workshop is part of the Building Business Resilience project. Climate East Midlands has delivered 11 business resilience workshops in the East Midlands between 2012 and 2014. Around 175 participants took part and they all rated the workshops as good or excellent. We have also supported similar workshops in the West Midlands.
