Leicestershire Together in partnership with Leicester City Council and Rutland County Council are holding this unique information sharing event. This event will bring together leading experts to present their research findings on how climate change will affect people already facing poverty and disadvantage, those who are likely to be more vulnerable to changes in our climate, and the wider impacts on our communities.

  • Mike Peverill of Climate East Midlands will outline how the local climate is projected to change and outline key messages from the UK Climate Change Risk Assessment and more local initiatives
  • Katharine Knox, Programme Manager from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation will provide insights from their research programme on climate change and social justice
  • Prof John O'Neill and Dr Sarah Lindley of the University of Manchester will highlight key messages for policy makers and practitioners in Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland from their innovative research into measuring and mapping social vulnerability to climate change

When: Monday 16th April 2012. Registration and refreshments from 1pm, start at 1:30pm, finish at 4:30pm.

Where: The Radmoor Centre, Loughborough College, Radmoor Road, Loughborough, LE11 3BT.
Car parking at the venue is limited, but the town centre is only a 15 minute walk, and there are buses from the train station. Information on how to find the venue

Who the event is for: The event is aimed at Elected Members, local authority managers and officers, the health and social care sector, Local Resilience Forum members, Planners, the voluntary sector, and any other organisation supporting communities.
