As part of our project to Build Business Resilience in the East Midlands, Climate East Midlands is organising a series of in-depth workshops for businesses, focusing on how severe weather can affect your business, and how you can increase your resilience.

The workshop in Northamptonshire on 27th November 2012 is the first workshop in the series. Each workshop will respond to the local context, and in this case builds on recent work by the Estates Groups and Business Parks run by Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership. They undertook business continuity exercises in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council.

The workshop includes expert speakers from:

  • the Environment Agency on flood risk mapping and flood warnings
  • Northamptonshire County Council on business continuity management
  • Climate East Midlands on current understanding of how patterns of severe weather are likely to change, and how this translates into risks and opportunities for businesses.

Discussion of severe weather scenarios, and interactive exercises, will lead to each participant creating an action plan for their business, so that each participant leaves with ideas for practical steps that they can take to make their business more resilient.

Businesses of all sizes are welcome. Staff with responsibility for risk management, business continuity and/or health and safety may find this workshop particularly relevant.
